FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship promotes acquaintance and friendship among Rotarians

Fellowship brings closer together all club members in the Family of Rotary. Good fellowship is key to the life and success of a club.

One important aspect of fellowship is to be able to informally reach out to the family of each members by inviting spouses, children and relatives to participate in the life of a Rotarian and include them in socials, functions and activities not strictly related to the conduct of business. Let's not forget that for every successfully Rotarian there is a spouse, a relative who is there to support and encourage the individual in his/her dedication to the pursuance of Rotary mission.

Tips

2/2003. Birthday card: How about receiving an electronic Rotary greeting on your birthday? All you need to do is ask the attendance committee to give you the club membership list, e.mail address, day and month (year optional!)of all active members. Enter the database in your desktop calendar and when you are reminded of it, click in! Start a very special day in a Rotary fashion!

1/2003. Happy Hours: A great opportunity to celebrate the end of the week, of the month and invite Rotarians to meet and discuss personal and club problems without the formality of a regular club business meeting. No none will disagree that every hardworking member needs to relax once in a while. What better way to do it than among respected and trusted friends!

12/2002. The Mystery tour: (from our friends in Nevada) The fellowship committee plan an outing to which all members, spouses and family are invited. Group transportation is made available and no one knows where they go until they arrive to their final destination. 1/2 day, I day or even overnight for the more adventurous.. all in the Family of Rotary's tradition and good spirit!

11/2002. Yearly calendar: Celebrate year's most popular Holidays (Christmas, Valentine Mardi Gras, Easter, etc) in the Family of Rotary. Invite spouses and relatives to regular meeting scheduled on that date or stage special Holiday's meetings. Another great opportunity to have families share the life of Rotary and have Rotarians celebrate the community of Rotary

Success Stories
12/2002. Espanola-Los Alamos joint Christmas party: 2 small clubs of less than 50 members, whose attendance grows over 60 for the occasion as the tradition becomes more and more popular among Rotarians, their spouses and family. The event is hosted alternatively in Espanola and Los Alamos and of course each year the host club plots month ahead ways to outdo the other's previous year reception!
