LUNCH & GUEST SPEAKER: PDG DAN GARRISON  (Lea County Event Center)

Daniel R. (Dan) Garrison, PDG D5520 2002-03

Dan grew up in Eunice, New Mexico. He is a graduate of Eunice High School and received a B. A. in English and Secondary Education and a M. A.   in Guidance and Counseling   from Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico. He received his administrative certification through the University of New Mexico and was admitted to Ph.D. candidacy in the Department of Educational Administration at UNM. He served New Mexico school districts as a teacher, counselor, curriculum coordinator, principal and director of planning and support services in a thirty-one year career. He has written and implemented teacher, parent and child training programs oriented toward communications and family dynamics. He currently is Operations Manager for Lone Mountain Contracting’s projects with the educational institutions in New Mexico. He is also the owner of Daniel R. Garrison & Associates, a firm providing consultation in management, organizational health and planning for schools and businesses.

Dan is married to the former Gaye Strauch. Gaye is a Graphic Artist, Pastel Artist, and Web Master. Between them they have 6 children and 10 grandchildren. Gaye donates the profits from the sale of one of her prints to the Rotary Foundation for work in the Sierra Madre. Both Dan and Gaye have been active in this endeavor.

Dan has served Rotary at the club, district and zone levels including Club President, Assistant Governor, Governor, and currently, Zone 25 as Rotary International Membership Zone Coordinator.

Hillary Smith Urzetta has been entertaining New Mexico audiences for over twenty years. Not to be categorized in one genre, she is synonymous with jazz, blues, gospel and funk. She has had the immense honor of singing with jazz greats: Grady Tate, the Dr. Billy Taylor Trio, the late Phyllis Hyman, Roy Ayers and blues icon, Delbert McClinton.
