Robert (Bob) Rausch
District 5520 Governor
2021 – 2022
I became a Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte in 2005. My first position was Red Badge chair where I worked with Red Badge inductees, introducing them to all things Rotary (and learning a lot myself). Later, I became the Rotary International Committee chair for two years, and then after a year off, I was elected club president for the 2016-2017 Rotary year.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio and I lived in Zanesville and Dayton before moving to Philadelphia while in junior high. I went back to Ohio in 1969 to attend Miami University on an Air Force scholarship, graduating in 1973. I went into the Air Force shortly thereafter.
My first assignment was undergraduate pilot training in Lubbock, TX. After that, I primarily flew F-4s, 0-2s, and F-111s while serving in the Philippines, England, Germany, and all over the US. I met my bride, Sandy, an Air Force nurse, while stationed in Sumter, SC and we married in 1980. I retired after 20 years of active service while stationed at Clovis NM in 1993 and moved to Albuquerque for my next career, financial advising.
I spent the next 25 years helping my clients, mostly active-duty military families, on their road to financial independence. In 2005 I was promoted to District Advisor for the state of NM and held that position for 10 years before retiring in 2018. I continue in aviation as a certified flight instructor.
I am married to USAF Col (Ret.) Sandy Rausch and have three sons and a grandson. I enjoy flying, traveling, golf and fly fishing.
